James Lay

James has specialised in Corporate Finance since 2004, joining the partnership in 2014 and has recently been appointed Chairman. He is a Chartered Accountant and holds the ICAEW Corporate Finance qualification. James has vast experience across several industries, working closely with clients to help them buy, sell or value SME businesses.

As an accredited business advisor and an NLP practitioner, James also works with business owners to help them achieve their full potential. Typically, the objective is to help achieve greater profits and time for the owners, with a specific focus on business growth, positive mindset and strategic direction. This is also the subject of a fun and informative weekly podcast, Impromptu Business Chat, which is co-hosted by James and a fellow partner, Mark Curtis.

James was educated in Norfolk and studied at Aston University before returning to East Anglia to join Larking Gowen in 1998.
